Goal

Project is aimed at technological modernization, functional integration and expansion of institutional academic library systems in Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Description of activities

Project should provide:

  • Installing a new server in the library network nodes
  • Inclusion of all academic libraries in library and information system of the university
  • Implementing web site of university curricula, which contain lists of required books, teaching material and material from lectures, related to repositories and OPACs
  • Establishing a system for archiving and use of digital university documents and linking it with the library information system and the information system of scientific research

The project should enable universities, proponents of the project, to be the first in the region to achieve full automation of library and information system which will enable students, teachers and other users of academic libraries to effectively use and exchange both conventional and electronic library materials. The great importance of the project is a selection of regional networks as a fundamental technological and organizational model of library system. Regional network provides an immediate flow of scientific information and documents in the region, and thus effective educational, professional and cultural cooperation among the universities in the region.

One of the main advantages of this project is the intention to integrate existing and new functionality into a complete system.  Intention of the project is to connect, with the use of metadata, the repositories and services for their management and usage with ILS and bibliographies of university staff in E-CRIS systems. System for repository search should function as a general search engine for distributed repositories for all users of academic LIS systems.
